KNIGHTS CONTINUE THEIR WINNING WAYS

Lenoir- On a relatively cool evening that had Hibriten's Walter Schronce sing the national anthem before the game, Gabriel Walker and Braden Whitford accounted for all three goals as the Hickory Christian Academy Knights increased their total wins to four against no losses and one tie, defeating Hibriten Panthers 3-1 at William Lenoir Middle School in Caldwell County Thursday night.

Through five games the Knights have allowed only two goals and outscored it's opponents 17-2 with all contests against higher division teams. The Hibriten Panthers are members of the Northwestern Foothills Conference.

It took the visiting Knights just 2 minutes to crack into the scoring column. Following a pin point assist from Will Lehman, Gabe Walker punched it in for the games first score. The Knights then went up 2-0 on a goal by a very determined Braden Whitford only 12 minutes into the contest.

The Panthers managed to score a goal around the 52 minute mark but the Knights sealed the game at the 76 minute mark with a Gabe Walker goal, his second of the night with Braden Runyon providing the assist.

Coach Josh Walker was extremely pleased with the teams focus, energy and overall performance acknowledging that this was perhaps the Knights most complete game of this young season.

Receiving the Battle Ball, a Hickory Christian tradition given to the player that shows the best overall effort was Aiden Smith. Aiden was a force throughout the contest, maximizing his athletic abilities to disrupt and deter the Panther's offensive game plan. The senior stopper was seen all over the field making the Panther's think he had a twin.

The Knights fans were again in full force, outnumbering the home Hibriten fans. The kids were excited when they looked over in the stands and witnessed such a big crowd supporting their efforts. Thank you to all parents and family members for your commitment to cheering on your Knights.

As the early season non-conference schedules continue, the Knights travel to cross county rival Tri-City Christian School in Conover Monday August 28th @ 4:00.
