Boys Varsity Basketball vs. Christian Family Academy

Hickory Christian Academy's varsity boys basketball team took on the Fire of Christian Family Academy Monday evening.  The Knights of HCA played one of their best games of the season with all players getting to play and four players scoring in double digits.  They passed the ball well leading to 18 assists for the night.  The Knights were led well by their four seniors.  Hunter Sjobom, guard/forward, scored 14 points, had 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 6 steals in 22 minutes of play.  Will Miller, forward, scored 10 points, had four assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals in 22 minutes.  In 18 minutes, Marcus Allison, forward, had 12 points, 7 rebounds, and one steal.  Easton Crouch, forward, added 4 points, one rebound, and one steal in 12 minutes.  Leading the way for the sophomores were Andrew Freitag and Jaxson Sjobom.  Freitag, a guard, had 10 points and 2 steals on 3 for 4 shooting behind the arc.  Sjobom, a guard, added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and one block.  Freshman guard, Andrew Maxy, contributed 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals.  Sophomores, Micah Herndon and Matt Auten, had four points each.

HCA traveled to Charlotte Monday night to face the Knights of Northside Christian Academy.  Northside lost three seniors this year, but gained a lot of speed with the players that came in.  HCA competed the entire game, but came up short.  Senior guard/forward, Hunter Sjobom, led the team in scoring with 12 points.  Sophomore center, Micah Herndon added 9 points, 3 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Lose: 45 - 70
The Knights of HCA traveled to Asheville for a non-conference game against Asheville School.  In the 45-70 loss, sophomore center, Micah Herndon, had 10 points and 5 rebounds.  Freshman guard, Andrew Maxy, led the team in scoring with 16 points and added 3 boards.  Senior guard, Will Miller, put up 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.  Senior guard/forward, Hunter Sjobom, led the team in rebounds with 6, and sophomore guard, Braden Runyon, led the team in assists with 3.

Lose: 58 - 76
The Knights started their season on the road against a very tough Salem Baptist Christian team.  HCA fought hard throughout the game, but lost 58-76.  The Knights were led by senior guards, Will Miller and Hunter Sjobom.  Miller had 16 points, 2 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal on the night, while Sjobom added 13 points, 3 assists, and 7 rebounds.  Sophomore center, Micah Herndon, put up 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  HCA is on the road for the first three game so of the season and will open up at home on November 22nd.  This season the roster consists of 4 seniors, 7 sophomores, and one freshman.
